Harvard Entrepreneurship 3 x 3 Dinners

April 12, 2011  |  No Comments  |  by omar  |  Events

The 3×3 Dinners group 3 business and 3 technical entrepreneurial students. The objective is to provide a small group setting in which like minded students from both sides of the river can better get to know one another in a more substantial way, bringing our communities closer to one another.

We ran 2 pilot groups to test this concept on March 22nd with promising results. The folks involved gave very positive feedback about the experience and enjoyed getting to know one another in a small social setting.

For the business side of the group, we’re focused on students actively working on or seriously interested in launching tech startups while still in school. For the technical side, we’ve partnered with Peter Boyce and Harvard College Venture Partners to reach out to tech savvy students from the main campus.

Logistics: We’re tentatively considering two dates – April 7 and/or April 21, both Thursdays – to have the dinners. We’ll pre-arrange the dinner locations. We ran 2 groups during the pilot but we’re aiming for 3 or 4 groups for the next round. If you’re interested in participating, please fill out the form below. If you have any questions, please reach out to Omar Restom (orestom at mba2012.hbs.edu).

HackHarvard HackNights NOW on Tuesday Night

April 12, 2011  |  No Comments  |  by douglas  |  Events

Just a reminder that our Hack Nights have moved from Wednesday nights to Tuesday nights. Come hang out with us on Tuesday night 9pm-2am in Maxwell-Dworkin! As usual, there will be plenty of food, snacks, hacking, and great conversations. Here’s a wonderful testimonial by someone who attended last week:

“I have to say that HackHarvard was incredible. The people were genuinely friendly, the ideas were fresh, and there was food! HackHarvard seems to represent the Harvard I always thought I would find, but seems not to exist: bright young minds working on exciting problems together at their own initiative, bouncing ideas off each other just for the sheer joy of thinking. God, I wish this kind of community existed in music, theater, film, comedy, politics, art… any of the other fields here.”

The process is simple:

  • Make a 60 second elevator pitch of your idea and upload it to YouTube.
  • Get as many thumbs up on YouTube and likes on FaceBook as you can by promoting your video to your friends.  If it’s crazy and goes viral, great.
  • The 3 entries with the most cumulative thumbs/likes will get judged for awesomeness of the pitch and the idea.
  • The winner will be flown to MIT for the Finale show on May 11 and awarded $2,000 on stage.

Rules:

  • Judging will take place on May 1.
  • Register your entry as soon as you upload it (we’ll check upload date) by emailing us at youpitch@you know the rest.  Include the URL, your name, school, and graduation year.

  • You must email us from a .EDU email address to demonstrate you are a student.
